LASIK is a great way for people to see life without the demands of glasses or the annoyance of contact lenses . Now with the advancement of all-laser LASIK the procedure is even more precise and customizable. However, not everyone is a great LASIK candidate. Take our LASIK Self Test to start the process.
During LASIK, the femtosecond laser will be used to create a thin flap from the surface of the cornea. The flap is then lifted to expose the deeper layer of cornea to be treated. This corneal flap stays attached to the rest of the cornea on one side. The excimer laser is then positioned into place, and delivers a programmed number of pulses of ultraviolet light onto the newly exposed part of the cornea. Each pulse of the laser removes a microscopic layer of cornea.
After LASIK eye surgery is complete, the corneal flap is put back in place. This flap will naturally adhere to the treated cornea, eliminating the need for sutures. Pressure from the eyelid and other factors will hold the flap in place as it heals, minimizing discomfort.
The cost of LASIK in San Francisco can vary depending on the technology used, experience of surgeon and level of outcomes. The price range for LASIK in San Francisco is $2400-$3600 per eye.
Before determining if you are a strong candidate for LASIK or other vision correction procedures, the doctor needs to make sure you are a candidate for laser vision correction. In a pre-operative exam our LASIK eye doctors will do a thorough eye health exam complete with the measurements necessary for LASIK candidacy. If LASIK is not right for you we will discuss the possibility of the other vision corrections procedures.
Our LASIK Technology is second to none. We offer eye tracking for all of our LASIK patients. The new eye tracker presents many benefits to our patients and makes LASIK safer than ever before. Eye tracking allows lasers used during LASIK surgery to compensate for eye movements during the procedure, thus adding an important level of assurance.
We offer you our Peace of Mind Promise. We promise our surgeons are some of the most experienced in the area. We promise they will use the most advanced all-laser LASIK technology. And we promise our friendly, professional staff will be with you every step of the way. How’s that for peace of mind?
LASIK is also safer than contact lenses according to many sources. Contact lenses tend to create harmful bacteria simply due to handling complications and the constant eye touching. According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) wearing contact lenses is associated with higher risks of keratitis. On the other hand, LASIK was actually approved by the FDA nearly 25 years ago and has a tremendous safety record. LASIK and other modern vision correction surgeries done here at LaserVue Eye Center are even the choice for active U.S. military personnel. Now that’s even more peace of mind!
